Education
The key to expanding democracy and prosperity is to provide every child with an opportunity for a world-class education. In Jackson County, we need to ensure that quality early childhood programs are available and accessible, so each child can be prepared to succeed in school, whether that's public, private or home schooling. And our schools need resources to help our kids achieve the highest standards.
Data shows that smaller class sizes and hands-on, or "experiential," learning allows students to have better understand what they're taught. Smaller class sizes also helps teachers put the focus on discipline, and a hands-on approach brings real world relevance to the classroom. We also know that a focus on teaching the basics in K-12 creates a good foundation for further education, via college or a vocational training program. We need to provide every child with basic literacy tools for life—economic literacy, computer literacy and reading literacy—during their K-12 education.
